AGM Discussion: Societal Paradigm Shifts
Upon completion of the brief formal portion, we will engage in a group discussion on the societal paradigm shifts needed for sustained social change. Below is a description of the context and what to expect:
Over the last couple of months, the Social Change Leadership Collective (SCLC) has been discussing societal paradigm shifts, specifically the underlying beliefs and systems that are inhibiting sustained social change. Through these dialogues, many have felt that a number of actions that have been implemented (at a macro-level) to address issues such as houselessness, food insecurity, racial inequities, environmental degradation, etc. are merely short-term solutions or band-aids. We say this in recognition that various communities across the globe continue to experiment with alternatives to current the paradigm. However, dominant beliefs and systems persist that have limited the scaling of these alternatives.
At this year’s AGM, we would like to further these discussions to help us develop a new process that could enable conversations around facilitating social change from a systems perspective. We’re hoping that these SCLC gatherings might be one avenue for people to come together to mobilize around the issues affecting their communities both locally and globally.
We invite you to join us on Thursday, June 24, 2021 (starting at 6 PM EDT) for what we hope will be a fruitful discussion for all.
Should you have any further questions, please email us at: ica@icacan.org. We look forward to seeing you at the AGM.
